This is the work we return to every day on the mat, in study, and in how we live. What we teach is practical, embodied, and grounded in lineage. Not concepts to collect, but practices to apply again and again.

Taught and practiced in studios around the world. Where will you practice next?

Five gateways into a complete methodology.

Become a Yogi is built on a proprietary framework refined across a lineage of teachers taught in full only inside the training room. What follows is a glimpse.

The Master Teacher
Body Leads the Mind

The qualities of a master teacher are not skills to acquire — they are devotions to practice. Wisdom. Compassion. Equanimity. Love. Gratitude. Students learn to hold space without filling it, to read a room without performing for it, to use silence as the most powerful instrument in the room. Voice, presence, rhythm, storytelling, the architecture of an entire class experience — these are the elements of teaching that no certification can confer. Great teaching is not what you say. It is who you become while you are saying it.

The Intelligence of Flow
Discipline Creates Freedom

Intelligent sequencing is not memorization — it is rhythm, opposition, and energetic architecture. Students learn to build flows from principles rather than playlists: where to introduce novelty, where to return to familiarity, when to challenge the edge, when to soften around it. Effort and rest. Squeeze and release. Up and down. The most powerful flows are deceptively simple — designed so the body can move without the mind needing to translate. This is the craft that separates a class that feels like a workout from one that feels like a conversation with yourself.

Lineage, Philosophy & the Eight Limbs
Lineage-Rooted Practice

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Bhagavad Gita. The Eight Limbs of Ashtanga. The Five Precepts. The Kleshas. Sanskrit foundations and devotional practice. Yoga philosophy is studied here not as concept to memorize, but as a way of moving through life — through speech, through eating, through how one shows up for the people who depend on them. Rooted in the Ashtanga tradition and refined through generations of teaching, the philosophy becomes embodied. Lineage is not something you inherit. It is something you practice.

Breath as the Architecture of Practice
Practice Beyond Performance

Before the postures, before the philosophy, before any of it — there is the breath. In ancient Hebrew it is Ruach. In Hawaiian, Aloha. In Sanskrit, Prana. The same word for breath, the same word for spirit. Students learn to work with Ujjayi pranayama, diaphragmatic mechanics, and the bandhas as more than techniques — they become instruments for regulating the nervous system, lengthening attention, and shaping the inner climate of the practice. You will breathe roughly 23,000 times today. The training begins by making each of them conscious.

The Seven Doorways of Vinyasa
Practice Meets Life

A proprietary framework refined over decades of teaching, study, and lineage transmission. The Seven Doorways turn vinyasa from choreography into a living language — seven sequential gateways that shape every class, from the first breath to the closing bow. Each doorway holds its own intention, its own rhythm, its own teaching protocol. Together they form an architecture that students feel before they can name it. The full system — the language, the sequencing logic, the energetic arc, and the principles behind every transition — is taught only inside the training room. What is built here cannot be reduced to a script.

Dharma Conversations

Three generations of Kests learned the practice through teachers sitting across from people who knew more, asked harder questions, made us less sure of our own answers. This is the same work, in modern form. Long-form conversations with the voices shaping how the practice lives today. We learn in dialogue. The mat is just where we put it to work.

Join the Family

Over 3000 students and teachers from around the world sharing flows, planning retreats, asking the real questions. Free to join. Impossible to leave.

Attending The Art of Vinyasa — specifically The Seven Doorways program — and training directly with the founders, Jonny and Jonah Kest, was an epic, mind-blowing journey. The experience felt uniquely personal; the Kests are incredibly humble and welcoming, treating you like friends they've known forever while sharing the full backstory of how the practice came about.

Anne G

I had the pleasure of taking Jonah's 20-Hour Art of Vinyasa Training in Miami. I didn't realize how much I needed this training. I was feeling a bit stagnate in my teaching and in my practice and it felt like a creative reset - like someone lit a spark that had been dimmed by staying in my comfort zone.

Emma H

Jonah Kest's 20-hour Become a Yogi Retreat was nothing short of extraordinary. His teaching style blends wisdom, authenticity, and humor, creating an experience that feels both challenging and accessible.

Spencer B

I went in open and left completely transformed. I loved the way Jonah pushes you to really discover your edge; I have a tendency to sometimes pull back when I am tired or not sure I can keep flowing/hold posture, and what I discovered in this training was that my capacity to stay and breathe even 5 more breaths is SO much more than I had been giving myself credit for.

Mikala O

If you want to transform your life - I can't recommend a training or retreat with Become a Yogi enough. The yogi does the work, but the way they create and hold sacred — lets that unfold so naturally. I've done two 20-hour immersions this year and I'm headed into the 300 next..

Jennifer K

Profound. I came into this trip from seeing a post on social media so it's as close as can be to seeing it on TV/not having much knowledge of the Seven Doorways aside from the beautiful flow clips shared on social media. I've done 200 hour trainings - which I mention only to highlight it doesn't take much time to impart impactful wisdom.

Wendy C

Amazing time with great group of people! From breathwork, vinyasa flow to yoga on the beach (ouch hamstring but oh so good). Jonah has such a gift of teaching - time flies quickly but the friends you made last forever! Great experience for students and teachers alike!

Siska H

Absolutely incredible, love the entire experience, the people, the space and the learnings! Forever grateful and will be back again!

Carrie B

Jonah is such a wealth of knowledge and inspiring teacher. This was an incredible and expansive experience. Highly recommend it.

Carey M
